How to Present the Best CV

The sad truth is that most CVs are NEVER read from start to finish. The lesson learned: you MUST make an impact in the first few seconds. Is your current CV doing that? Send it to us and we'll give you an honest assessment. Usually we will end up saying "No", as CVs are almost always too long and unclear. Most CVs are unable to "sell" the person.

So how do you distinguish your CV from 200 others in only a few seconds?

- You write an "Executive Summary".

A golden rule is no matter how much experience and qualification you have, your CV must not exceed 2 pages - nor must it be "busy". Less is definitely more. But in that space, you must highlight your key attributes and what you bring to the job. If you can do that, this will give you the edge you need to get an interview.

Cultural Adaptation

Another aspect is to adapt your CV to the local employment market. Even if you have a great looking CV from your "home" market, cultural considerations vary across borders and are very important when presenting your resume. In Denmark there is something called "janteloven". Basically, this can be translated as a “who-do-you-think-you-are” mentality. The lesson: avoid trying to be too good or pretending to be able to do too many things. This doesn't sit well in Danish culture. Yet you will still have to convince the reader of your skills and indicate what you can offer. We can help you achieve this delicate balance.

In contrast, in China CVs are viewed rather differently than in the "West". Previous experience is very important as is the profile and reputation of the last employer. References, for instance, are almost worthless as they are often suspected of being written by the applicants themselves.

Our Service

To help with this, we offer two services. One is a review of your current CV - where we highlight specific action points to improve it. This we send in an e-mail.

The other service is an actual upgrade of your CV. Here we put into effect our advice and simply send you the finished CV. As many of our customers find it helpful, you can also combine these two service options. If you choose this option, you only pay for the second service.

Prices

For the first service option (e-mail advice), prices start at 25 US$. For the second service option (complete preparation of your CV), prices start at 50 US$. Prices ultimately depend on the complexity of the source document and your preferred turnaround.
